FAMFAM
Electronic music community app & platform: How FAMFAM is digitising a music ecosystem
Digitising a music ecosystem
FAMFAM translates the grown cultural ecosystem of the house music scene into a digital platform: curated rather than generic, with community bonds rather than anonymous ticket sales.
Building a scalable platform
The platform is modular and ready for international use from day one, open to new features and business models.
Digitising business processes
Events, merchandise, payments and community management all come together in a single app rather than being spread across separate tools.
Cultural participation as part of the product
Controlled ticket access, fair waitlists and a directly integrated donation flow strengthen trust and ties between FAMFAM and its community.
B2B integration for event managers and artists
Organisers, promoters and artists work directly on the platform and handle their own guest list management.
FAMFAM is an app for the international house music community with a six-figure user base. Curated experiences risked getting lost on generic ticketing platforms as the scene grew. As a Venture Building and app development initiative, DAYONE conceived and built the platform from scratch in 15 months, from strategy through brand and UX to technology. Result: an internationally deployable app with ticketing, commerce and its own foundation.

Starting point
House music moved from the underground into the mainstream; curated experiences were disappearing on generic ticketing platforms, access became more confusing and genuine community bonds harder.
Platform as a culturally and economically viable ecosystem
FAMFAM brings artists, promoters, brands and fans together in a curated ecosystem. It connects artists with audiences, brands with culture and the digital experience with the real show. The integrated foundation channels a share of revenues into cultural projects and talent development.
From ticket to drop: the entire show experience in one app
The app brings together tickets, guest list spots and table reservations and adds curated content: exclusive merchandise drops, new music releases and selected brand collaborations. FAMFAM only generates ticket QR codes shortly before the event begins and ties them to the user profile, preventing misuse and black-market resale. The collaboration with equality.fragrances shows how a brand can plug directly into the platform’s commerce infrastructure through joint merchandise drops.
Secure, seamless access to show experiences
FAMFAM makes access to curated shows technically secure and frictionless. Whether tickets, guest list places or table reservations, entry runs through the app. Tickets are generated as QR codes shortly before the event begins and are tied to user profiles. That prevents misuse and touting.
Flexibility is preserved nonetheless: users transfer tickets directly in the app, and a digital waiting list ensures a fair process for those next in line.

Show management: the B2B side of the platform
For artists, tour managers and promoters, DAYONE built a dedicated show management application. It manages invitations, guests, categories and statuses, and exports lists for admission. A ticket overview shows organisers how sales and revenue per show are developing.

Venture Building app development: edgy brand meets state-of-the-art technology
The FAMFAM brand draws on the aesthetic of the house subculture: pared back and confident. Behind it sits a modular architecture with headless commerce for merchandise, integrated payment flows and secure identity and profile structures based on AWS, Shopify and Contentful. The setup works internationally from the very first go-live.

Cultural participation for disadvantaged children and young people: The FAMFAM Foundation
The FAMFAM Foundation supports projects that give children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds access to education and forms of creative expression, currently for example in India and South Africa. Shares of merchandise sales and voluntary community donations flow directly into the Foundation via a dedicated payment flow. Users can see at any time how much has already been donated and which project will receive it.
From idea to mature product in 15 months
FAMFAM was created as a venture and had to deliver more than an MVP from day one. In just 15 months, a simple presale sign-up grew into a digital product that brings several established solutions together on one coherent platform.
We built brand and product in parallel: we activated the community early, and pre-launch communication and web profiles generated valuable user data that fed directly into product decisions and market entry.
At launch the app was fully functional — with integrated systems for access, payment and commerce — and reached a six-figure user base within a few months.
A venture-building case that shows how a clear vision, curated product architecture and disciplined delivery bring a complex product to market quickly.

Outcome
six-figure
User base after app launch
within a few months of launch
The app brings together tickets, guest list spots, table reservations, merchandise and a foundation with its own payment flow in a single platform instead of needing multiple separate solutions.
The Foundation is funded by shares of merchandise sales and voluntary community donations and currently supports projects in India and South Africa.

Frequently asked questions
What sets Venture Building apart from traditional digital consultancy?
In Venture Building, DAYONE handles the full spectrum: platform strategy, brand, technology and go-to-market are delivered by one team rather than split across separate projects. For FAMFAM, that meant conceiving and building a new product in-house from the first idea through to a fully functional launch.
How does an entrepreneurial idea become a standalone product with its own brand presence?
Brand and product are developed in parallel, not sequentially. For FAMFAM, DAYONE developed the design system and brand aesthetics alongside the technical architecture so they fit together from the outset rather than being aligned later.
How do you reduce the risk of a new venture before committing the full investment?
An early presale with web profiles tests demand before the full app is built. Via this route, FAMFAM activated a six-figure community ahead of the official app launch and fed the resulting user data directly into product decisions and market entry.
How do you build an app platform so it works internationally from day one?
Payment processing, identity verification and commerce integration are designed from the start to be modular rather than market-specific. As a result, at FAMFAM the infrastructure was globally operational from the first go-live, with no rework for individual countries.
How do you integrate promoters and artists into an app that’s primarily built for fans?
A second, dedicated application covers the B2B side: guest list management, categories, statuses and ticket sales per show. This way, fans and promoters work in separate interfaces on the same platform architecture.
Let's move your project forward together!
We look forward to your challenge.
