A personal matter
In September 2019, the team and I said goodbye to our partner and co-founder Holger.
Holger passed away in early August after a short but very serious illness. With him, we lost a truly unique person—someone who left a lasting impact on many of those reading this, both professionally and personally.
Holger was a visionary, a hippie—and at the same time, a bit of a traditionalist. This special combination allowed him to inspire especially young people, offering them the freedom to explore and grow, all within a sense of security.
I personally had the privilege of calling him my mentor—learning from our exchanges, drawing inspiration, and growing wiser and more experienced with every step.
Even though he wasn’t the visible face of DAYONE, many of his ideals live on in our DNA today.
Despite the grief and sadness, I also carry a sense of anticipation—the anticipation of continuing the vision we began together. At DAYONE, with a mix of young talent and experienced enablers, we aim to drive change through fresh perspectives and innovative ideas.
Let’s never forget how precious life is—and how fully we should embrace it.
